Boylen, Francis

Born on 14 SEP 1878 • Hartlepool. Son of John Boylen and Catherine Morgan, of Hartlepool. 

Married at 29 Dec 1902 • Holy Trinity, Hartlepool, Durham, aged 24.

He moved to Hull and became a Dock Side Labourer. He lived at 33 Bean Street, Hull, with his wife, Florence Maud Mary (1881-1967) and five children.

He was a well known rugby league player, playing 100 games for Hull FC between 1908-12 and in the 1914 Hull Kingston Rover Team, where he played 38 times.

He enlisted in Hull, on 23 July 1915. Served overseas with the 22nd Durham Light Infantry. Discharged with sickness, on 15 Nov 1918. Awarded the Silver War Badge (No: B76941).

After the war he worked for the Britisg Oxygen Company, in Hull. He died at Hull on 3 Feb 1938, aged 59.
