Brabyn, Walter Ashby

Born Blyth, Northumberland, on 01/03/1899. Only son of Walter Morgan Brabyn (1861-1923) & Mary Hannah Brabyn (1875-1962), of 13, Wensleydale Terrace, Blyth, Northumberland (War pension address). He had one sister Celia Mary Brabyn (1900-1994). He just started work as a postal clerk, when war began. He enlisted in Middlesbrough. Served as Lance Corporal, in ‘A’ Company, of the 1st East Yorkshire Regiemnt. He was captured on 27/05/1918. Died of wounds, in captivity on 19/06/1918, aged 19. His army effects were left to his father, Walter. He left Mrs Priestley, at t45 Park Street, Hull. His death was reported in the Hull Daily Mail on 28/01/1919. He is buried on the Aisne, in France. His grave inscription, reads, “Until the Day Breaks”
