BORN HULL 1894. SON OF WILLIAM BRAITHWAITE (1863-1935) & ELIZA ANN GARDAM (1864-1928), OF 10 DOROTHY AVENUE, CORNWALL STREET, HULL AND 9 PRINCES WAY, CLEVELAND STREET, HULL. HE HAD SIX BROTHERS AND FIVE SISTERS. WORKED AS HUL LIGHTERMAN.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED IN THE 1ST COLDSTREAM GUARDS, IN THE BRITISH EXPEDITIONARY FORCE. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 27/11/1917, AGED 22. COMMEMORATED ON THE CAMBRAI MEMORIAL.
HE LEFT WIDOW MARGARET BRAITHWAITE, AT 2 SPYVEE STREET, HULL,.
HIS FIVE BROTHERS SERVED IN THE WAR AND WERE FEATURED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL. HIS BROTHER, CLARENCE BRAITHWAITE, DIED AT SEA, ON HMS BULWARK, ON 26/11/1914.
