ORIGINALLY A PLOUGH LAD AND HORSE WAGONER. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 8 INCHES TALL. 134 LBS WEIGHT, 34-36 INCH CHEST, GREY EYES, LIGHT BROWN HAIR, SCARS ON RIGHT LEG, BACK OF HEAD AND ANKLE, CHURCH OF ENGLAND RELIGION.
HE JOINED AS TROOPER, 4622, 21ST LANCERS, DRIFFIELD ON, 15/02/1913. DISCHARGED FOR AN UNFIT SOLDIER, OVERSTAYING HIS PASS, ASLEEP AT HIS POST, FAILING TO ATTEND PARADE AND BAD TEETH, ON 30/10/1914. HE MOVED TO HULL. WORKING AS A HULL TRAM EMPLOYEE AND LIVING AT 14, FREDERICK CRESCENT, HAWTHORNE AVENUE, HULL.
HE RE-ENLISTED IN HULL, IN 1915. SAW ACTION IN EGYPT AND FRANCE. HE WAS WOUNDED IN THE KNEE IN 1916. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 24/08/1918, AGED 22 AND UNMARRIED. HE IS BURIED AT SUCRERIE MILITARY CEMETERY, COLINCAMPS, SOMME, FRANCE.
