BROTHERS CHARLES & HAROLD BRATLEY. SON OF A SOAP LABOURER. THE FAMILY ALSO LIVED 16 SPRINGFIELD VILLAS, MORLEY STREET, HULL. HE WAS EMPLYED BY MESSRS STOREY & SMITHSONS, OF STONEFERRY, HULL.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL UNDER AGE. SERVED WITH THE 1/4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. DIED OF GAS WOUNDS ON 16/06/1916., AGED 18, AT NO8: CASUALTY CLEARING STATION. BURIED AT BAILLEUL COMMUNAL CEMETERY, NORD, FRANCE. HIS LIEUTENANT WROTE. “i ALWAYS FOUND HIM AND EXCELLENT WORKER AND GOOD LAD. HIS COMRADES AND 1 HAVE LSOT A GOOD FRIEND.”
