
Walter was born in Beverley in July 1892. Son of a Blacksmith Striker. Third of seven sons. He had one older sister, Rose.
He was the son of George and Ada Brigham. He worked as a Plater’s helper.
He enlisted in Beverley and served as a Private in the 5th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment.
Walter was mortally wounded near Ypres Belgium on 9 May 1915 and died of wounds at Boulogne Hospital.
His army effects were left to his mother, Ada. He is buried at Wimereux Communal Cemetery, France.
His name is commemorated on the Beverley WW1 Memorial, with C. Brigham.
His eldest brother, George Brigham served in the Coldstream Guards and was discharged on 14 Dec 1918.
His second eldest brother, Fred Brigham, 38060, served in the Royal Field Artillery & moved to 13 Napoleon Avenue, Kent St, Holderness Rd, Hull. his four younger brothers, Thomas, Albert, Redvers and Berie Brigham were too young to serve in the war.
