Sam Brockington was a fisherman, born around 1855. He married Elizabeth Wilson at St Barnabas Church in 1913 & died at sea on 19/04/1916 on the fishing vessel ‘Hawk’. His name was listed in St Barnbas Church, Book of Remembrance.
On 19/04/1916 the Hull steam trawler HAWK (H389) sank following a collision with the Brazilian s.s. CORCOVADO (3046 gt/ b 1890) in the North Sea, 5 miles north-east of Spurn Light-vessel, whilst outward bound from Hull towards Iceland.
