Brooker, Charles Edwin

Born Shorncliffe, Chatham, Kent, 1886. Second Son of John and Sarah Ann Brooker. Secomd of four sons. He had one sister, Lydia. His father was a Retired Army Sergeant.

Charles Edwin Brooker, joined the army young and was a regular soldier when war began.

Married at Medway, in 1912. Husband of Harriet Victoria Riley, (born on 20 April 1887), of 8, Cromwell Terrace, Chatham (CWGC address) and 13, Worsley Street, Hull (War pension address).

He enlisted in Chatham, Kent. Served as a Gunner, Royal Field Artillery, “A” Bty. 70th Bde. Killed in action, on  28 March 1918, aged 32.

He left a widow, Harriet and daughter, Lydia Maud Victoria Brooker, born 21 April 1913. Awarded a weekly war pension of 20 shillings and 5 pence. His widow remarried and became Harriet Berry.
