BORN HULL 1887. THIRD SON OF JOHN RICHARD BROWN (1844-1912) AND ELLEN BROWN (1846-1905).

HE WAS A LOCOMOTIVE LABOURER FOR THE NORTH EASTERN RAILWAYS AND LIVED WITH HIS ELDER SISTER ELLEN TURNER (1911 CENSUS)

HE ENLISTED HULL. SERVED WITH THE 6TH EAST YORKSHIRE PIONEERS. LEFT FOR THE DARDENELLES ON 14/07/1915. KILLED AT GALLIPOLI ON 06/08/1915, AGED 29.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS SISTER, ELLEN TURNER, AT 7, DONS AVENUE, VILLA PLACE, HESSLE ROAD, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).

HIS NAME IS COMMEMORATED ON THE HELLES MEMORIAL, TURKEY.

HIS NAME WAS ALSO RECORDED ON THE WAR MEMORIAL AT ST THOMAS CHURCH, CAMPBELL STREET, WHICH WAS DESTROYED IN AN AIR RAID DURING WW2.
