BORN HULL 1896. SON OF RICHARD BROWN AND LAVINIA ELLEN BROWN, AT 54 LINCOLN STREET, HULL AND 11, ROSE STREET, FOUNTAIN ROAD, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). AN APPRENTICE PLUMBER.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL, AS A SAPPER IN THE EAST RIDING ROYAL ENGINEERS. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 27/04/1917, AGED 20.
UNMARRIED, HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, RICHARD.
HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE ARRAS MEMORIAL.
HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE EAST RIDING ROYAL ENGINEER’S MEMORIAL AT HULL MINSTER.
HE IS ALSO REMEMBERED AT ST MARYS CHURCH, SCULCOATES LANE, HULL ON THEIR STONE PILLAR MEMORIAL.
HE LEFT BROTHERS, PRIVATE, STANLEY BROWN, 10TH EYR, WOUNDED JULY 1916, AND PRIVATE, FRED GORDON BROWN, (RAMC). HIS SISTER WAS A NURSE IN YORK.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 30/05/1917.
