Born Liverpool, 1881. Married Elizabeth Rowlands (born 12/12/1883), on 13 Apr 1903, at St Lukes Church Lower Tranmere. Resided at 13, Manvers Street, Newland Avenue, Hull (war Pension address). They had three daughters, Doris, Freda and Mabel and one son, David John. He worked as a Chair and Cabinet maker. Described as 5 foot 6.5 inches tall, 35-37 inch chest, “Good” character.
Enlisted at Newcastle on 6th December 1915. Called up on 3rd May 1916. Served in the Royal Field Artillery. Discharged on Medical grounds, on 29th May 1916. Stationed at Castle Hill Sanitorium, Hull. Died of Tuberculosis, on 18/04/1918, aged 37. his widow received a weekly war pension of 29 shillings and seven pence, on 21/8/1918.
