BORN HULL 1897. SON OF SARAH JANE (1871-1938) AND TENNYSON BULSON (1867-1912), OF 6, GORDON STREET, HULL (CWGC & WAR PENSION ADDRESS). SHE OWNED THE BUTCHER’S SHOP AT 65, PORTER STREET, HULL. ONE OF NINE CHILDREN. HE HAD FOUR BROTHERS AND FOUR SISTERS. HIS FATHER DIED IN 1912. HIS FATHER WAS A BUTCHER AT 65 PORTER STREET.
BEFORE THE WAR HAROLD WAS AN APPRENTICE WITH MESSERS KING & CO LTD.
HE HAD ENLISTED AT HEXHAM, JOINING THE 1/4TH NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS. HE WAS KILLED 6 MONTHS LATER, ON 15/09/1916, AGED 19. COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, SOMME, FRANCE.
HIS YOUNGER BROTHER ERNEST BULSON, KING’S OWN YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY, DIED OF WOUNDS ON 01/04/1918, AGED 19.
BOTH BROTHERS WERE UNMARRIED AND ARE LISTED ON ST MATTHEWS CHURCH, WW1 MEMORIAL, BOULEVARD.
HAROLD’S DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 17/10/16 WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
