Born Doncaster, 1897. Enlisted Sheffield. Employed as a carter in Hull. He married on Christmas Day 1915 and lived with his wife, Maud Elizabeth Burdis, at 35 Marvell Street, Hull. Served with the 4th York and Lancaster Regiment. Died of wounds, at No 1 West Riding Field Ambulance, on 21/07/1916, aged 19. He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memoria, at the Somme.
He never saw his daughter, Edna, who was born on 12/03/1917.
