DIED AT CHEMERA, GERMAN EAST AFRICA, OF A SELF INFLICTED WOUND, CUTTING HIS THROAT ON 10/06/1917, AGED 23. HE HAD SERVED FOR 5 YEARS AND 12 DAYS. THE BOARD OF ENQUIRY FOUND HE WAS OF SOUND MIND AND COMMITTED SUICIDE. HE WAS UNMARRIED.
HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE RETURNED TO HIS FATHER. HIS WAR PENSION WAS REFUSED. HE LEFT A YOUNGER BROTHER, THOMAS ALLEN BURN.
