Born Lambeth, London, 28 Feb 1868. Son of Henry Samuel Burnby (1841-1894).

A professional Soldier. Served 1886-1907 and 1914-1917. South Africa, India and WWI Home front.

Served as Quarter Master Sergeant, Farrier, 28152, 10th (Prince of Wales’s Own) Royal Hussars. Discharged on 13 Jan 1917. Died of war aggravated, Chronic Bronchitis, 10/01/1918, aged 49. Buried at Hull Western Cemetery.

Married at York in 1892. Husband of Lily Jennings (Born 15/9/1872 – 1918), of 63, De La Pole Avenue, Hull (War Pension address). His wife died soon after leaving three sons, Albert Edward, Charles Willian and Henry James Burnby and three daughters (Olive Burnby Jones, Elsie Lilian Burnby Dalby and Everlyn). The girls were placed in the care of Olive Burnley
