Burr, Robert

Born Beverley, 1895. Son of William and Sarah Burr, of 15, Wood Lane, Beverley, Yorks. His father was a groom in the Beverley racing stables. He worked as a farm servant and stable boy.

Enlisted at Hull, December 1914. Served with the East Riding Yeomanry. Later 1/4th & 8th E.Yorks, 6th Battalion Dorsetshire Regiment. Killed in action, on 11/10/1918, aged 23.

Commemorated on St. Mary’s church ROH; ER memorial, Beverley Minster; Hengate memorial, Beverley; Beverley Guardian 9/11/18 & 30/11/18 (photo)

Buried at Montay, France. His grave inscription reads, “HIS SOUL RESTS WITH THE LORD”
