Born Bridlington, 1895. Son of Thomas and Jane Burrell, of 2, Well Lane Bridlington, East Yorkshire (war pension address). Son of a Gardener. He was a Nurseryman, at this address (1911 Census).

He enlisted in Hull. Served as a Gunner in the Royal Field Artillery, “A” Bty. 251st Bde. Killed in action, on 21/04/1917, aged 21. Buried at Wancourt, France. His grave, reads, THE LORD IS MY STRENGTH.
