HUSBAND OF MAUD ETHEL SISSONS (1885-1959) & CHILDREN LIVED AT 24 JACKSON’S ROAD, SCUNTHORPE. A FORMER CLERK, FOR MS DUNHAM’S, HULL. HE WAS WORKING AS A BRICKLAYER IN 1911. HE ENLISTED IN THE LINCOLNSHIRE REGIMENT, ON 15/03/1898, AGED 21 AND 9 MONTHS. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 7.5 INCHES TALL, 119 LBS WEIGHT, 32-34.5 INCH CHEST SIZE, BLUE EYES, LIGHT BROWN HAIR, SCAR ON BRIDGE OF NOSE. HE SERVED IN SOUTH AFRICA, BETWEEN 1899-1902. HE HAD RECEIVED THE SOUTH AFRICAN KINGS AND QUEENS MEDALS WITH CLASPS. RETIRED FROM THE 2ND LINCOLNSHIRE REGIMENT ON 17/03/1914 AFTER 16 YEARS OF SERVICE. HE MOVED TO CROSBY LINCOLNSHIRE WITH HIS WIFE AND TWO CHILDREN. HIS FATHER REMAINED AT 14 ALEXANDRA STREET, HULL
HE ENLISTED IN HULL ON 06/11/1914, WHEN WAR BEGAN AND JOINED THE 6TH LINCOLNSHIRE REGIMENT. POSTED TO THE DARDENELLES, ON 18/07/1915. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, AT GALLIPOLI, ON 09/08/1915, AGED 38. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE HELLES MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
