BORN HULL 1899. ELDEST SON OF WILLIAM GUY BURSTALL & RUTH SKINNER, OF COTTINGHAM AND WEST GARTH, DRIFFIELD. EDUCATED AT HYMERS COLLEGE, HULL. POSTED TO FRANCE ON THE 6TH JULY 1917. HE SERVED WITH THE 4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT AND WAS ATTACHED TO THE 1ST WEST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, WHEN HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, AT ST QUENTIN, ON 24/09/1918, LEADING HIS PLATOON, INTO ACTION. HE WAS AGED 19. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED INTHE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 04/10/1918. *
HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE COTTINGHAM ROLL OF HONOUR AND HAS A STAIN GLASS WINDOW IN HOLY TRINITY CHURCH CHAPEL DEDICATED TO HIS MEMORY. THERE IS ALSO A PLAQUE TO HIM ON THE WALL OF ST MARY’S THE VIRGIN CHURCH, COTTINGHAM. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 2ND OCTOBER 1918. HE LEFT A BROTHER EDWARD BRYAN BURSTALL AND SISTER BEATRICE JANE BURSTALL.
