Butterworth, John

Born Blackburn, Lancashire, 1884. Only Son of  Joseph and Jane Butterworth , of 20, Warwick Road, Blackpool and 373, Hessle Road, Hull (War pension addresses). He had three sisters.

He resided in Nelson, Lancashire and worked as a Cotton Weaver.

He enlisted at Preston, Lancashire. Served with the 8th Border regiment. Killed in action, on 12/04/1918, aged 34.

His army effects were left to his mother, Jane.

He is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial, Belgium and also his parents grave at Blackburn cemetery.
