HE HAD TWO SISTERS, MARRION AND ELIZABETH. EMPLOYED AS A COOPER, FOR MESSRS. G.A. JACKSON & SONS, AT 20, CLEVELAND STREET. HIS ARMY ENLISTMENT ADDRESS WAS 6, THOMAS PLACE, SCOTT STREET, HULL.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 27/01/1914, AGED 17 YEARS AND 7 MONTHS. SERVED AS A GUNNER, IN THE 3RD NORTHUMBRIAN BRIGADE. ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 19/04/1915. TRANSFERRED AS A DRIVER, TO THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 16/09/1916, AGED 19. HE HAD SERVED FOR 2 YEARS AND 232 DAYS. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL. UNMARRIED. HE LEFT TWO SISTERS. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE SENT TO HIS FATHER, WALTER.
