BORN HULL 1878. LIVED HULL. ENLISTED MANCHESTER. A PROFFESIONAL SOLDIER AND RETIRED RESERVIST WHEN WAR BEGAN. HE SERVED AS A SERGEANT IN THE 2ND HIGHLAND LIGHT INFANTRY. ARRIVED IN FRANCE ON 14/08/1914, WITH THE BRITISH EXPEDITIONARY FORCE. KILLED AT LOOS, ON 25/09/1915, AGED 37. HIS ARMY EFFECTS, WERE LEFT TO HIS NEXT OF KIN, MISS GLADYS RICHARDS – 87 GRAHAM STREET, CITY ROAD, ISLINGTON, NW1. NO CENSUS MATCH.
HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE LOOS MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
