Born Norwich, Norfolk, 1881. He married at Beverley, in 1908. Husband of Elizabeth (Gooding) Canham, of 2, Hobson’s Yard, North Bar St., Beverley, Yorks. His family lived at Coombs Yard North Bar Within. Enlisted Beverley. Regular soldier with the 10th Yorkshire regiment, based in Colchester, Essex (1911 Census). Served as acting Corporal, with the 2nd Prince of Wales Own (West Yorkshire) regiment. Killed in action, on 14/07/1916, aged 35. Commemorated on the Thiepval memorial, Somme. His name is also recorded on the Beverley WW1 war memorial. His army effects were left to his widow, Elizabeth, and daughter.
