BORN HULL 1891. SON OF ELIAS AND MARIA CAPES, OF 116, BANKERS ENTRY, HIGH STREET, HULL (1901 CENSUS). EMPLOYED AS A KEELMAN.

HUSBAND OF FLORENCE BLACK, WHO HE HAD MARRIED IN 1916. SHE LIVED AT 28, WALCOTT STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).

HE ENLISTED IN THE HULL PALS. SERVED WITH THE 13TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. WOUNDED AT ARRAS. DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 30/07/1917, AGED 25. BURIED IN FRANCE. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS  WIDOW, FLORRIE. SHE RECEIVED A WEEKLY WAR PENSION OF 13 SHILLINGS AND NINE PENCE FROM 7/2/18.

IT TRANSPIRED ON 25/11/18, THAT HIS WIFE WAS ALSO MARRIED TO ANOTHER SOLDIER, PRIVATE, MENWELL, LABOUR CORPS. SHE WAS CONVICTED OF BIGAMY, AT YORK AND SENTENCED TO 4 MONTHS IMPRIONMENT. HER WAR PENSION FROM ALBERT CAPES WAS REDUCED.
