HE ENLISTED IN HULL. ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 29/07/1915. SERVED AS A DRIVER, IN THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY. DIED OF INFLUENZA, ON 02/11/1918, AGED 26. HE IS BURIED AT ST. SEVER CEMETERY EXTENSION, ROUEN, FRANCE.
UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO MOTHER, MARY, AND HIS FATHER, JOHN WILLIAM CARDEN, WHO SERVED IN THE ARMY SERVICE CORPS . HE ALSO LEFT HIS ONLY SISTER, NELLIE.
