COSMOS, was a hired Admiralty drifter (No 1435), built in 1914 of 91grt, Lowestoft registered LT.477. Armed with 1 x 3 pdr AA, she was in service since April 1915 as a net vessel. COSMOS was sunk on February 15, 1918 by German destroyers in Dover Straits with 11 crew lost.
On February 15th, 1918 Admiralty trawler JAMES POND (3) and netlayers CHRISTINA CRAIG (10), CLOVER BANK (12), COSMOS (11), JEANNIE MURRAY (15) and SILVER QUEEN (9) were sunk by German destroyers in Dover Straits. The damaged W. ELLIOTT (7) foundered later that day while under tow.
