BORN HULL 1889. SON OF WILLIAM HENRY CASS AND HANNAH CASS, OF 146, SEVERN STREET, HULL. HE HAD TWO BROTHERS AND TWO SISTERS.
HE MARRIED AT HARLEY STREET REGISTRY OFFICE, HULL, ON 20 DECEMBER 1913. HUSBAND OF FANNY RAWLING (MOVER), OF 3 CYPRUS WALK, ALEXANDRA STREET, HULL, BROOSIDE VILLAS, ST MARK STREET, HULL (ARMY ADDRESS) & 300,WINCOLMLEE, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). THEY HAD ONE SON, EDARD, BORN ON 3RD MARCH 1914. HE WAS AN OIL MILL LABOURER.
HE ENLISTED AT BEVERLEY, ON 2ND JUNE 1915, SERVED WITH THE HULL PALS, IN EGYPT AND FRANCE. WOUNDED IN THE HAND IN 1916. WOUNDED IN THE SCALP, IN 1917. TRANSFERRED TO THE 7TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT AND WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 22/05/1917, AGED 28. COMMEMORATED ON THE ARRAS MEMORIAL.
