HE MARRIED, AT SCULCOATES, HULL, ON 18/04/1916. WIFE GERTRUDE MARIA MECKLENBURG (1895-1975), THEY LIVED AT 13 , NABURN STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS).

HE SERVED IN THE MERCHANT NAVY. LOST ON THE TRAWLER “DURBAN”, 15/03/1919, AGED 27.

HE IS LISTED IN THE LOST TRAWLERMAN OF HULL RECORDS. HIS NAME IS INSCRIBED OF ST JOHN THE BAPTIST WW1 MEMORIAL, NEWINGTON, HULL.

Built for Humber Steam Fishing & Ice Co., Hull (H378). In December 1914 vessel Requestistioned by the Royal Navy as an auxiliary vessel No FY 1209. In October 1915 returned to owners. In 1917 vessel Rqd by Royal Navy as a fishing trawler (Fishery Reserve). In 1919 vessel returned to owners. On 15/03/1919 the Hull trawler DURBAN (H378) posted missing:- Lost all hands (possibly mined) in the North Sea.
