HE WORKED AS A BRICKLAYER AND FOR THE BRITISH GASLIGHT COMPANY, AT SCULCOATES, HULL. HE MARRIED, ELIZA STURDY, AT SCULCOATES, ON 12/06/1903. WIFE ELIZA CHAMPLIN & THEIR TWO DAUGHTERS, MURIEL & FLORENCE, LIVED AT 10 OCEAN PLACE, WATERLOO STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). HIS SISTER, MRS DAVEY, LIVED AT 9 CLAREMOUNT AVENUE, HOLMES STREET, HULL. HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 26/10/1914. SERVED AS A GUNNER IN THE ROYAL GARRISON ARTILLERY. SERVED IN FRANCE AND FLANDERS, FROM 20/04/1915, WITH THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY. HE DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 25/03/1918, AGED 38. HE HAD SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR THREE YEARS.
