BORN HULL 1880. ELDEST SON OF WALTER CHAPMAN (1854-1932) & MARY ANN WHITEHEAD (1859-1951), OF 35 MALM STREET, HULL. HE HAD FIVE BROTHERS AND FOUR SISTERS. HE HAD ENLISTED IN THE IMPERIAL YEOMANRY ON 28/01/1901, AND SERVED IN THE BOER WAR. IN CIVILIAN LIFE HE WAS EMPLOYED AS A FISH MERCHANT. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE ROYAL ENGINEERS. TRANSFERRED TO THE ROYAL AIR FORCE. DIED ON 28/11/1918, AGED 36.
HIS WIFE EMILY CHAPMAN LIVED AT 2 YARRATT PLACE, RAYWELL STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS).
HIS BROTHER, LANCE CORPORAL, WILLIAM EDWARD CHAPMAN, 11 TH EAST LANCASHIRE REGIMENT, WAS KILLED IN ACTION, AT SERRE, ON 1ST JULY 1916, AGED 24. HE IS BURIED AT HULL WESTERN CEMETERY, WITH ABLE SEAMAN, P. GLANVILLE, HMT “MOLLUSE” WHO DIED ON 30/11/1918..
