BORN HULL 1894. SON OF ANNIE CHAPMAN AND JOSEPH CHAPMAN, OF 13, ALASKA STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE HAD THREE OLDER BROTHERS, ALBERT VICTOR CHAPMAN, ROLAND CHAPMAN AND ALEXANDER EDMOND CHAPMAN & SISTERS, KATE, PANSY AND ANN

HE MARRIED, FANNY (CLARA) PECK (1890-1977),  IN 1913. THEY LIVED WITH THEIR DAUGHTER, PANSY, AT 6, BELLAMY STREET, HULL. BEFORE THE WAR, HE WORKED FOR THE RECKITTS BLUE DEPARTMENT.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVING WITH THE EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. IN THE ARMY HE TRAINED AS A GYM INSTRUCTOR. HE WAS WOUNDED FOUR TIMES. DIED OF INFLUENZA, AT THE VAD HOSPITAL, ON 09/10/1918, AGED 24. BURIED IN HEDON ROAD CEMETERY. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, CLARA.
HIS CWGC GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “LOVED AND REMEMBERED ALWAYS FROM WIFE AND DAUGHTER, PANSY”

HIS BROTHER, ALBERT CHAPMAN, 2973, SERVED ON MINESWEEPERS AND WAS LOST AT SEA, ON 17/10/1917, AGED 32. HE LEFT WIDOW, ETHEL, AT 9, MIDDLETON AVENUE, RENSBURG STREET, HULL
