Born Grimsby, Lincolnshire, 1898. Son of Thomas Charlton and Sarah Burgess, of 7, St Heliers Road, Cleethorpes (War Pension address). He was a Student of Ratcliffe College, Leicester. He enlisted in Hull. Served in the King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, 1st/4th Bn. Killed in action, on 12/04/1918, aged 20.
Commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium. His army effects were left to his mother, Sarah.
