Born Hull. Lance Corporal, John Christal, 20898, 7th King’s Shropshire Light Infantry. Lived Whitechurch, Salop. He married there in 1915. Enlisted Shrewsbury. Formerly, 2840 Shropshire Yeomanry. He transferred to the 7th Battalion. Killed-in-Action in the trenches, East of Canal de La Lawe, on 22nd April 1918. His army effects were left to his widow Alice Heycocks (1889-1921). Their son, John, also died in 1918, aged 2.
