HE WORKED AS A GAS STOVE FITTER, FOR THE BRITISH GAS LIGHT COMPANY, HULL.
HE MARRIED ETHEL MAY FLOWERDAY (1894-1996), AT HULL, IN 1916. THEY LIVED WITH THEIR CHILDREN, ENID & WALTER, AT 3, HENRY TERRACE, WEST PARADE, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS) AND 5, PARK TERRACE, SEATON STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS)
HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 23399, 13TH YORKSHIRE HUSSARS. HE DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 07/03/1917, AGED 31. HE IS BURIED AT ETAPLES MILITARY CEMETERY, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “WORTHY OF EVERLASTING REMEMBRANCE”.
HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE BRITISH GAS LIGHT AND COKE COMPANY WAR MEMORIAL, KEPT AT THE FAKENHAM GAS WORKS MUSEUM, NORFOLK.
HE IS ALSO COMMEMORATED AT ST MARYS CHURCH, SCULCOATES LANE, HULL.
