BORN DALTON HOLME, BEVERLEY, 1894. SON OF JANE AND THOMAS MICHAEL CLARK, OF 68 KELDGATE, BEVERLEY (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE WAS WELL KNOWN IN HULL ON THE BILLINGSGATE AND HULL MARKETS. HE ENLISTED IN BEVERLEY. EX, 21852, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. TRANSFERRED TO THE 2ND YORKSHIRE HUSSARS, WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 09/04/1917, AGED 23. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER JANE. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH, IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 18TH MAY 1917. *

“Pte. J. R. Clark, of Beverley, Killed. Official notification was received on Wednesday by Mr T. M. Clark, 68 Keldgate, Beverley, that his eldest son Pte J. R. Clark, Yorkshire Regiment, has been killed in action in France on April 9th.
