BORN HULL 1899. SECOND SON OF SYDNEY CLARK (1868-1945) AND FLORENCE ADA THOMPSON (1874-1964), OF MIDDLEBURG STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). THE THIRD OF FIVE CHILDREN. SON OF A RAILWAY MAN. HE WAS EMPOYED AT THE TROY TOWING COMPANY. HE SERVED AS A GUNNER IN THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY. SERVED IN FRANCE FOR 17 MONTHS BEFORE BEING BADLY WOUNDED AT THE SOMME IN 1916. (HDM 12/12/1916)

HE DIED IN GERMANY, ON 18/03/1919, AGED 20. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 28/03/1919.
HE IS BURIED IN GERMANY. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “GOD TAKES LOVED ONES FROM OUR HOMES BUT NEVER FROM OUR HEARTS FROM FATHER, MOTHER & SISTERS” HIS WAR PENSION WENT TO HIS MOTHER, AT THIS ADDRESS.

HIS BROTHER, STOKER, ARTHUR CLARK, HMS TRIBUNE, DIED OF WAR RELATED TURBCULOSIS, ON 23/05/1921 (WAR PENSION RECORDS).
