HE MARRIED DOROTHY WHEATLEY, AT SKIPTON, IN 1909. THEY LIVED WITH THE COX FAMILY. AT 4, MONTROSE AVENUE, SEYMOUR STREET, HAWTHORNE AVENUE, HULL.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 50299, 1ST EAST RIDING YEOMANRY. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 10/11/1915. HE DIED ON 21/04/1917, AGED 30.
HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE HULL CITY ENGINEERS MEMORIAL. COMMEMORATED ON THE CAIRO WAR MEMORIAL CEMETERY, EGYPT. HIS WAR PENSION WAS STOPPED TO HIS “UNWORTHY” WIFE DUE TO HER “MISCONDUCT” AND TRANSFERRED TO HIS MOTHER, THE GUARDIAN OF HIS TWO SONS, DUNCAN AND WILLIAM. HIS MOTHER WAS AWARDED 13 SHILLINGS A WEEK, TA MOTHERLESS RATE, ON 25/10/1917.
HIS YOUNER BROTHER, PRIVATE DENIS BROWN CLARKE, 13112, 8TH WEST RIDING REGIMENT. ENLISTED AT SKIPTON AND WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 29/09/1916, AGED 24. (ARMY EFFECTS LEFT TO HIS FATHER JOHN HENRY). ANOTHER YOUNGER, BROTHER, PRIVATE, WALTER PARKER CLARKE ALSO SERVED WITH THE WEST RIDING REGIMENT AND WAS DISCHARGED DISABLED, ON 27/06/1917.
