Born Barrow, Lincs, 1893. Son of John Atkinson Clayton and Minnie Clayton, of 26, Manchester Square, New Holland, Hull. His father worked for the Railways. He had three brothers and three sisters.
He enlisted at Barton-on-Humber. Served in the 5th Lincolnshire Regiment. Killed in action, on 13 Oct 1915, aged 22.
Commemorated on the Loos Memorial, France. His army effects were left to his father, John.
