BORN HULL 10/11/1886. SON OF GEORGE JORDAN COGGIN(1850-1904) & ELLEN PEDDER (1855-1921), OF 12 ALEXANDRA TERRACE, BARNSLEY STREET, HULL. HIS FATHER DIED IN 1904. HIS MOTHER DIED IN 1921. ONE OF 11 SIBBLINGS, SOME OF WHICH DIED IN INFANCY. EMPLOYED AS A DOCK LABOURER AND FOREMAN STEVEDORE FOR MESSRS HOLLAND, OF HULL.

HE MARRIED IN 1910, AT SCULCOATES, HULL. HIS WIFE, SARAH JANE (DUNKIN) AND TWO SONS, WILLIAM AND ALBERT, LIVED AT 8 HERBERT’S TERRACE, BARNSLEY STREET, HULL AND 8, ELM GROVE, WITHERNSEA STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).

HE ENLISTED HULL. KILLED IN ACTION AT YPRES, 15/06/1916, AGED 29. HE IS BURIED AT ELZENWALLE BRASSERIE CEMETERY, BELGIUM.
HIS OLDER BROTHER JOHN COGGIN, 6TH EYR, HAD BEEN KILLED AT GALLIPOLI ON 15/08/1915, THE YEAR BEFORE.

HIS OTHER BROTHER, GEORGE SURVIVED THE WAR AND WAS AWARDED THE MERITORIOUS SERVICE MEDAL (MSM) FOR WORK AT SEA.
HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON THE BARNSLEY STREET & ST MARKS STREET ROLL OF HONOUR WITH HIS BROTHER, PTE JOHN COGGIN, 6TH EYR, AGED 32.
