BORN DARLINGTON, 1866. HE DIED AT KING GEORGE DOCK, HULL, ON 13/07/1915, AGED 49. WHILE DRILLING HIS PLATOON OF RAILWAY PALS, THE 17TH NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE RETURNED TO HIS WIDOW, ANNIE, WHO LIVED AT 36 CHARLES STREET, SHILDON, DURHAM. HE LEFT THREE CHILDREN. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL TIMES, ON 17/07/1915.
HE IS BURIED AT NEW SHILDON (ALL SAINTS) CHURCHYARD, DURHAM. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “BELOVED BY WIFE AND FAMILY STILL TO MEMORY DEAR”.
