BORN BEVERLEY 1893. SON OF THE “WHITE HORSE INN” LANDLORD, FRANCIS COLLINSON (1853-1928) & ELIZABETH JANE HOGG (1866-1948), IN BEVERLEY. ONE OF THIRTEEN CHILDREN. EMPLOYED AS A LAW CLERK, LIVING AT 22 HENGATE, BEVERLEY (1911 CENSUS).
HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS DRIVER, 14826, ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY, 32ND BRIGADE. HE WAS WOUNDED ON 15/11/1917 WHILE TAKING AMMUNITION TO FRONT LINE TRENCHES. HE DIED AT THE 14TH GENERAL HOSPITAL, WIMMEREUX, ON 10/12/1917, AGED 24. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, FRANCIS.
HE IS BURIED AT WIMEREUX COMMUNAL CEMETERY, PAS DE CALAIS, FRANCE. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN TE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 14/12/1917.
THE FAMILY HAD THREE MORE SONS SERVING AT THE FRONT.
