BORN LATCHFORD, CHESHIRE, 1892. SON OF JAMES MARK & LOUISA COLMAN, AT 2 EBENEEZER TERRACE, LEE SMITH STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS ADDRESS), AND 1 EDMONTON VILLAS, CEYLON STREET, MARFLEET, HULL. BEFORE THE WAR HE WORKED AS A CONCRETE MIXER AND DRIVER. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED IN THE 7TH YORKSHIRE HUSSARS. WAS DRAFTED TO FRANCE ON THE 14TH JULY 1915 AND ON THE 27TH SEPTEMBER WAS SERIOUSLY WOUNDED IN THE HEAD. HE WAS RETURNED TO ENGLAND AND DIED OF WOUNDS ON THE 17TH NOVEMBER 1915, AT LINCOLN GENERAL HOSPITAL. (HDM 16/11/1917). AGED 23. HE IS BURIED AT MARFLEET (ST. GILES) CHURCHYARD. HE LEFT A BROTHER, FREDERICK AND SISTERS, LOUISA AND FLORENCE MAY.
