BORN HULL 1887. SON OF EDWARD GEORGE CONNHA AND ADA ALICE BLAGDON, AT 2, POPLAR TERRACE, ROSAMOND STREET, HULL (ARMY ADDRESS); 140, WATERLOO STREET, HULL & 30, MASSEY STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESSES). HIS FATHER WAS A TRAWLER SKIPPER, AND DIED OF DISEASE, CONTRACTED AT GALLIPOLI, IN 1915.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 21/08/1915. DESCRIBED AS 6 FOOT 1 INCH TALL. POSTED TO THE 2ND EAST RIDING ROYAL GARRISON ARTILLERY. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 24/02/1917. SERVED AS A GUNNER, IN THE 143RD RGA SIEGE BATTERY. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION. AT YPRES, ON 11/09/1917, AGED 30. HE HAD SERVED FOR 2 YEARS AND 22 DAYS. UNMARRIED HIS ARMY EFFECTS WENT TO HIS MOTHER ALICE, WHO MOVED TO 30 MASSEY STREET AND 140 WATERLOO STREET.
HE LEFT A BROTHER, ARTHUR AND SISTERS, GERTRUDE AND GLADYS, AT 140 WATERLOO STREET, HULL.
HE IS BURIED AT YPRES RESAVOIR CEMETERY. BELGIUM. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “HE GIVETH HIS BELOVED SLEEP”.
