Born Blakeney, Norfolk, England, 1875. Son of Henry and Phoebe Cook, of Fakenham, Norfolk. He had one brother, Charles Cook, living at 98, Day Street, Hull.
William married at St James Church, Hull, on 21 Dec 1901. Husband of Martha Ann Cook at 8, Brigham Terrace, Adelaide Street, Hull (Army address) and 20, Hope Terrace, Walker Street, Hull (War Pension Claim address). He was Hull Docks Lighterman and had six children
Enlisted at Hull, on 16/10/1915. Served overseas as a Sapper, Royal Engineers, Inland Waterways. Died of Cancer of the Tongue, on 04/12/1919, aged 44.
