BORN ERITH, KENT, 24/04/1891. SON OF WILLIAM AND ANNIE COULSON, OF ELSTERNWICK, BURSTWICK, HULL. HE ENLISTED IN HULL AS PRIVATE, 21898 EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. TRANSFERRED AS PRIVATE, 142131, 18TH MACHINE GUN CORPS. HE DIED OF WOUNDS AT ROUEN HOSPITAL, ON 13/09/1918, AGED 26. HE LEFT HIS ARMY EFFECTS TO BOTH PARENTS, SISTER ANNIE, AND FRIED, GERTRUDE BUTLER.
HE IS BURIED AT ST SEVER MILITARY CEMETERY, ROUEN, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “DEARLY LOVED”.
HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON THE ELSTERNWICK & DANTHORPE WW1 MEMORIAL WHERE 24 MEN SERVED AND 4 DIED IN WW1. ALSO LISTED ON THE HUMBLETON WW1 MEMORIAL PLAQUE IN ST PETER’S CHURCH (47 MENS SERVED AND 6 DIED).
