WILLIAM WAS ALSO EMPLOYED BY THE NORTH EASTERN RAILWAYS AS A PORTER-OPERATOR AT HULL.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 32/444, NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS. TRANSFERRED AS PRIVATE, 34288, 1ST YORK AND LANCASTER REGIMENT. DIED IN SALONIKA, ON 22/04/1918, AGED 24. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, ISABELLA.
BURIED IN GREECE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN”.
HIS BROTHER HOMER SLEIGHT COULSON, ROYAL NAVAL RESERVE, ALSO SERVED AT THE SAME ADDRESS. (1918 MILITARY VOTERS).
