BORN HULL 1897. THIRD SON OF JOHN COUSINS (1871-1930) & NORA AGAR (1871-1936), AT 55 BEETON STREET, HULL AND 59 ARUNDEL STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). SON OF A CARTER. HE HAD THREE BROTHERS. HIS SISTER, NORA, LIVED AT 59 ARUNDEL STREET, HULL. HE WAS AN ASSISTANT IN THE GROCERY TRADE, LIVING AT 23 BURLEIGH STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS)

HIS ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 14/95 EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. TRANSFERRED AS PRIVATE, JAMES COUSINS, 79253, DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY, DIED ON 24/08/1923, AGED 26, OF WAR RELATED INJURIES (PENSION RECORDS). BY THIS TIME, THEIR MOTHER, NORA, HAD LOST ALL THREE SONS DUE TO THE WAR.

HIS BROTHER, JOSEPH ENLISTED IN HULL. JOINING THE 1/4TH NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS WITH HIS ELDER BROTHER, JOHN. HE WAS CAPTURED AND DIED AS A PRISONER OF WAR, ON 06/10/1918, AGED 23. HE IS BURIED AT GLAGEON COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION, NORD, FRANCE. HIS PENSION WENT TO HIS MOTHER, NORA, AT 59 ARUNDEL STREET, HULL.

HIS OTHER BROTHER, JOHN COUSINS, ALSO FROM THE 1/4TH NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS, WAS KILLED AT THE SOMME, ON 15/09/1916, AGED 23. JOHN’S DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 1ST NOVEMBER 1916, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. HIS WAR PENSION WENT TO HIS UNMARRIED WIFE, BEATRICE JOY JACKSON, OF 1 KENT STREET, HOLDERNESS ROAD, HULL.
