BORN HULL 1882. SON OF TOM AND SARAH COX, AT 4, PERCY COTTAGES, NORNABELL STREET, HULL. A BRICKLAYER’S LABOURER.

HIS WIFE ANNIE MATILDA COX & SIX CHILDREN, LIVED AT 9, GEORGES TERRACE, ST MARK STREET (1911 CENSUS) AND 1 BRIGHTON TERRACE, BRIGHT STREET, HULL.

HE ENLISTED IN BEVERLEY. SERVED WITH THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 25/09/1914. KILLED IN ACTION, AT YPRES, ON 09/08/1915, AGED 32. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, ANNIE MATILDA. SHE WAS AWARDED A WEEKLY WAR PENSION, OF 26/6, ON 27 MARCH 1916.

HE IS RECORDED AS KILLED ON THE NORNABELL STREET SHRINE. (Hull Daily Mail, 08 November 1916).

HIS BROTHER, JOE COX,  DIED IN FRANCE, ON THE 21/02/1917. HIS OTHER BROTHER, JACK WAS ACCIDENTALLY KILLED IN EARLES SHIPYARD.
