BORN BROUGH 1889. SON OF ALFRED (FREDDY) CRAGGY (1853-1919) & LENA LOUISA WORTH (1860-1923), OF 265 BEVERLEY ROAD, HULL (PROBATE ADDRESS). HE WAS A FARM WORKER ON HIS FTAHER’S FARM OUTSIDE HULL. HE LIVED AT BUSHEY HILL, NEWBALD, YORKSHIRE AND HESSLE. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. EX 50380, EAST RIDING YEOMANRY. PROMOTED TO SERGEANT. WAS POSTED TO THE IMPERIAL CAMEL CORPS, SERVING IN THE MIDDLE EAST. HE DIED IN EGYPT, ON 31/03/1918, AGED 29. COMMEMORATED ON THE JERUSALEM MEMORIAL. HE LEFT £642 IN HIS WILL TO HIS BROTHER, FREDERICK COLIN CAMPBELL CRAGGY, ANOTHER FARMER. HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON THE HESSLE ROLL OF HONOUR, ALL SAINTS PARISH CHURCH.
HE HAD BEEN DUE TO INHERIT HIS FATHER’S SUBSTANTIAL LAND HOLDING AND LIVE STOCK HAD HE LIVED. THESE INCLUDING HIS FAMILY HOME AT 265 BEVERLEY ROAD, WERE LEFT TO HIS SISTER. THIS PROPERTY LATER BECAME THE CLIFTON HOUSE MEDICAL CENTRE.
