HE MARRIED FRANCES ELIZABETH BRUNNEY, ON 22/12/1906. THEY HAD THREE CHILDREN AND LIVED AT 20 EVELINA TERRACE, HEDON ROAD, HULL (ARMY RECORDS ADDRESS). HE ENLISTED, AT WHITEHALL, LONDON, ON 15/09/1915, AGED 40. HIS ARMY RECORDS, DESCRIBE HIM AS A LARGE MAN, 6 FOOT, 2 INCHES TALL, 40.5 INCH CHEST. EMBARKED IN FRANCE. SERVED AS A PIONEER, WITH THE 8TH LABOUR CORPS, ATTACHED TO THE ROYAL ENGINEERS. WOUNDED AND INVALIDED HOME. DIED OF BRONCHO PNEUMONIA, AT SUNDERLAND ROYAL INFIRMARY, ON 21/03/1916, AGED 41. BURIED IN HULL.
HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, FRANCES ELIZABETH CRASHLEY AND THREE CHILDREN, WHO MOVED TO 16 SUSANNA’S TERRACE, LEE SMITH STREET, HULL AND 2 PRINCESS TERRACE, NORNABELL STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).
HIS BROTHER, LANCE CORPORAL, JOHN THOMAS CRASHLEY, 43345, 10TH WEST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 11/02/1917, AGED 44.
